Patient lens-care guide
Progent is an intensive cleaner for rigid gas-permeable lenses, including many RGP, orthokeratology (ortho-k) and scleral lenses. It helps remove stubborn protein and deposits that daily cleaning can leave behind.
First, check your lens coating. Do not use Progent on Tangible Hydra-PEG–coated lenses unless your Mark Hinds optometrist has specifically confirmed it is suitable, as the coating may be damaged.
Six simple steps
1. Wash and prepare
Wash and dry your hands. Clean each lens with your usual rigid-lens cleaner, then place it in the correct R/L holder of the Progent vial.
2. Add both parts
Open both single-dose containers carefully. Empty Part A into the vial, then Part B. Never use either solution on its own.
3. Close and mix
Screw the cap on securely and gently shake the vial a few times so the two parts mix.
4. Soak: 30 minutes maximum
Set a timer. Never leave lenses in Progent for longer than 30 minutes.
5. Empty and rinse well
Discard the used mixture. With lenses still in the holder, rinse them thoroughly with the Progent rinsing saline or the rinsing solution recommended by your optometrist—never tap water.
6. Finish your routine
Clean and disinfect the lenses with your usual care system before wearing or storing them. Rinse the Progent vial and cap, then leave them open to air-dry.
How often?
Use Progent only as often as your Mark Hinds optometrist recommends and follow the directions supplied with your pack. Each A+B dose is for one treatment only—discard it after use. We generally recommend using after the first 6 month period of a new lens and do at least monthly.
Important: Keep Progent away from eyes, skin, children and clothing; it may bleach fabric. Do not swallow it. If un-rinsed solution reaches your eye, remove the lens, rinse immediately with sterile saline and contact us promptly—especially if pain, redness or blurred vision continues.
